Blackjack is usually played at a semi-circular table that can accommodate a varying number of players. Most tables can accommodate seven players. Each player plays against the “dealer” (croupier), who acts as a representative of the casino. You can also try out with the new Bizzo Casino login.
The dealer sits or stands on the straight side of the table and has a tray for the chips, a card slide with the cards and a discard pile for the cards played. The players sit in a semi-circle opposite the dealer. The position on the far right of the table is the first position to receive cards. This position is called “first base”, which is borrowed from baseball jargon. The last position on the far left of the table is called “third base”. All other positions have no name.
Blackjack is played with American playing cards with 52 hands. In casinos, several decks of cards are used so that the cards do not have to be shuffled as often. In most casinos, blackjack is played with six decks of cards (312 hands).
Cards 2 to 10 count according to their value. For example, card 2 is worth exactly two points and a card with a 9 is worth nine points.
There are three different face cards: Jack (J for English “Jack”), Queen (Q for English “Queen”) and King (K for English “King”). Each face card is worth 10 points.
Aces are the most important cards in blackjack. Aces can be counted as either one point or eleven points, depending on which value helps the hand the most.

There are usually several blackjack tables in a casino. Depending on the popularity of the casino, these tables are more or less busy.
Each blackjack table has betting limits, which are usually displayed as “minimum” and “maximum” on a sign to the left of the dealer. In German casinos, the minimum bet for blackjack is usually 5 euros and the maximum bet is 500 euros. Some casinos, such as Spielbank Berlin, also offer blackjack for a minimum bet of 2 euros. In Las Vegas, there are also blackjack tables with a minimum bet of 25 dollars, 100 dollars or even more. You should therefore make sure that you can afford the stake at the respective blackjack table! Beginners in particular are well advised to risk as little money as possible.
If a chair is free at a suitable blackjack table, you ask the dealer if the seat is free. This is usually done in English: “Is this seat open?”

Sometimes a player just takes a short break and has his place reserved. When the dealer signals that the seat is free, you can sit down.

Before you can play at a blackjack table, you need chips. In a casino, you can either exchange cash for chips at the cashier’s desk or, in most casinos, directly at the blackjack table.
To do this, you place the cash on the table in front of you. For security reasons, dealers cannot take anything from a player’s hand and vice versa.
The dealer places the money on the table in such a way that the cameras above the table can clearly see the amount and informs the pit boss (“overseer”) of the amount deposited.
The dealer counts out the chips that correspond to the amount for which the player has bought in and pushes the chips into the player’s seat.
